I have two tips to help when your creative muse decides to hit the road.....
Pick any color - just one and find some art supplies in that color. Grab all of them... Color pencil, paint, marker...yup...gather them all. Pull out your art journal and start playing. Find out what happens when you add water? What happens if you add a light pressure or heavy pressure? Paint really thick or thin? Layer different materials? Draw squiggles? Make a collage with the colors? You get the idea. Play in the art journal and see what happens. You might just surprise yourself. Maybe you will find out that you really love that color yellow or you decide it is not for you.
Go out of the house. Take your art journal with you. Go out and about. Start writing down anything you see that interests you. What items inspire you? See anything that you are curious about? Did you read a word or quote that you liked? Take note of what makes you laugh. Compiling this information will act as a checklist and reference for when your creative muse comes back from vacation.
I hope these tips help you get back into the creative swing of things. Do you have any tried and true tips that have worked for you? If so, list them below.
