Here is a little peak of the corner of the small bedroom in my home where I set up my easel. I use this area to do canvas work. Most of my canvas work is done standing up while my mixed media work is done sitting down at a large craft table. There isn't much room for anything else. I have converted the closet in this small bedroom into the art supply cabinet and also use a lateral file for paints. It is usually cluttered.
Sometimes, in the summer and fall, I set up my easel or drawing board outside on my deck or patio. One of my big dreams is to have a sunlit studio space with white walls and high ceilings. Until then, I am content with the small space I have. It allows me privacy and I don't have to leave my home to work on my art.
What does your creative space look like? If you don't have one, consider setting up a portable box of supplies to use at your kitchen table or a fold up table in the corner of the living room. It is important to create a place where you can do your art. If you prefer solitude, create an art on the go bag and frequent local parks, cafes or even your own backyard.
While it is nice to have a large space to play, it is more important to work with what you have and start creating today.
Have a creative day!
