I like a wide variety of music. In high school, I would listen to music on my cassette player in between classes. I was an avid Jimi Hendrix, Beatles and Joni Mitchell fan. Then I discovered ska, punk rock and 80’s metal. My love for music grew. I studied radio broadcasting in college, considering becoming a radio DJ. I worked at my college radio station and was exposed to all genres of music.
These days, as I am forced to become a morning person, I tend to find that early mornings are for lots of coffee, meditative and slow melodic music to wake me up. Later in the day I tend to listen to metal/rock/classic rock.
Evenings/early mornings are usually full of electronica and industrial music. I bounce back and forth between electronica/synth pop, indie/folk and classic rock/metal.
I find that fast beats in music help me focus when I am writing and getting down ideas whereas more melodic music is perfect for painting.
This month these are the top 3 Songs in my Studio Mix:
- Lindsey Sterling - “Crystalline”
- Ziggy Marley - “Dragonfly”
- VNV Nation - “Gratitude”
I am always looking for new music to enjoy. Please list some of your favorite artists below.
